The Green Bay Packers were devastatingly humiliated by the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday, as rookie quarterback Josh Freeman threw for three touchdowns and 205 yards. Freeman became the youngest quarterback to start for Tampa Bay and helped end an NFL-worst losing streak of 11 games. Drafted in the first round as the 17th overall pick and the third quarterback behind Matthew Stafford and Mark Sanchez, Freeman gave Buccaneers fans a reason to hope for better times in the future.
Right now in Minnesota, Brett Fav-ra is being hailed as a football god. Not only did he successfully complete his NFL record 42nd game-winning drive, he stunned the perfect 2-0 49ers by throwing a perfect strike to Greg Lewis in the end zone with 2 seconds remaining, giving the Vikings the eventual 27-24 victory.
The venerable Madden video games is never short of providing quality gaming experiences. Each year, the release of Madden manages to surpass all expectations and set the bar even higher. Another foretold event is the injury incurred by players who are selected to grace the cover of Madden. On Thursday night, All-Pro safety and Madden co-cover-boy, Troy Polamalu, sprained his medial collateral ligament in the season’s opener against the Tennessee Titans. The injury is expected to force Polamalu to miss three to six weeks.
This was definitely something I had not anticipated happening; I would be drafting defensive players for the first time ever. Hitting me by surprise when I first saw Patrick Willis being drafted, my reaction can be summed up like this: “What the hell is going on?!” I did not prepare for this kind of draft. I was accustomed to drafting D/ST. Now … this?!? JESUS. Not knowing what to do, I relied on Yahoo’s dreadful rankings and based my decision primarily on big names that I regularly hear about and the players’ statistics. Browsing through the long list of all defensive players, I only recognized one name for every ten to fifteen I read. Boy, this was gonna be an interesting year.
20+plus rounds and one hour and 45 minutes of unwavering concentration later(the most all summer long), I was finally done drafting. I was also very exhausted. Here now is my team’s roster:
Fantasy football drafts are well under way as the NFL regular season fast approaches. It is a very stressful time for many, where friendships are often torn stemming from an argument about who will start at quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. To lessen a bit of the hectic roller coaster decisions that come with a draft, I have compiled a list of five unworthy players who do not deserve any of your precious attention. These players may win you over with their good looks(see number 1) or their jaw-dropping college stats(see number 2). But don’t let them trick you into following a road of no return. Do not invest any of your picks into these players and pray that others will make the mistake instead.
The time for some good ‘ol fantasy football is upon us as NFL teams across America prepare for the start of a new season. Players feel confident, coaches talk glowingly about their team’s championship prospects, and regular Joes like you and me can once again place ourselves in the make-believe world of fantasy football where dreams of domination can be claimed. But, oh no! How can you possibly know which players are the one for you this year? Surely, you cannot rely on the same strategies as you did last year. Where’s the fun and joy in all of that? It’s time to sit down and start thinking of new ideas. Let me show you mine.
Two games into the preseason and approaching the start of the regular season, the San Francisco 49ers are looking to make it to the playoffs for the first time since 2002. Hopes always run high during training camp, but can dreams really come true? Let’s pull out the crystal ball and find out.
